How to get here
from the High Street
- On the side of the High Street opposite the Town Hall, walk through the passage way by the Red Lion pub.
- Keep going straight on until you have passed Boots on your right and then turn left into Eld Lane.
- The Church is about 30 yards on the left.
from the A12, coming from the west
- Exit from the A12 at Junction 27 to Colchester.
- At roundabout take 2nd exit (Avenue of Remembrance).
- Turn right at the next roundabout.
- 3rd exit at the next roundabout (Balkerne Hill).
- 1st exit at next roundabout (Southway).
- Straight across the traffic lights.
- 1st exit at next roundabout and bear left at traffic lights into Osborne Street
- NCP carpark is immediately on left. For Vineyard Street Car park turn right at next traffic lights and then turn right again into the car park. On Sundays Vineyard Street car park costs 50p for the day.
- Walk up the stairs from the west-end of the Vineyard Street Car Park, turn right through the passage then turn right into Eld Lane.
- The Church is about 30 yards on the left.
from the A12, coming from the north
- Exit from the A12 at Junction 29 towards Colchester and take the second exit at the next roundabout into Ipswich Road (A1232).
- Keep going straight down Ipswich Road (across a roundabout) until you come to a junction with the A133 where there are two roundabouts.
- Turn right onto the A133 (Cowdray Avenue) and follow that road along.
- Cross the first roundabout and then take the left hand filter lane at the next roundabout.
- Follow the road along and pick up the route as above from the point highlighted in pale blue (the next roundabout you will come to).
We do have a small car park outside the front of the church which is accessible on Sundays. If you are trying to find our church with a Sat Nav system it will fail you as the street is marked as pedestrian as we only have limited access. For your first visit it may be easier to use a public car park as it is not easy to find, but if you would like to try...
- Follow the instructions as above.
- When you get to Southway roundabout, take the first exit and get into the left hand lane.
- At the lights, filter left into Head Street and then get into the right hand lane.
- Go across the next set of lights and the pelican crossing and then turn right at the next lights into High Street.
- Follow High Street down until you see JJB Sports on your right.
- Take the small road immediately after JJB Sports past Jack's store and then go ahead down Long Wyre Street. It's pedestrianised during working hours Mon–Sat but is accessible on Sundays.
- At the bottom of the street turn sharp right (watch the bollard on your right) and drive up Eld Lane. The church is on the right as the street opens out.
to Colchester Station
- Liverpool Street station to Colchester Station takes approx 50 minutes but check on Sunday rail services. Colchester Station is on the mainline from London to Norwich and is about 1.5m north of the town. It is not to be confused with Colchester Town Station (see below).
- Take a bus into Colchester from the station and get off at Town Hall.
- Cross the High Street and walk through passage way by Red Lion pub.
- Keep going straight on until you have passed Boots on your right and then turn left into Eld Lane.
- The Church is about 30 yards on the left.
- Alternatively, take a taxi to the Red Lion pub in the High Street and follow the route as above.
to Colchester Town Station
- Colchester Town Station is at the south east corner of the town centre and the Church is about a quarter of a mile from the Church. It is on a branch line so has a more limited service then trains to Colchester Station.
- Turn right out of the station and keep bearing right, going up St Botolphs Street.
- Turn right into Short Wyre Street then continue into Eld Lane.
- The Church is on the right in about 50 yards.
